Winning streak comes to an end
A win and a defeat for the Wildcats
Swindon Wildcats five-game unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday with a 7-1 defeat to Bracknell Bees in ice hockey's Premier League.
Despite a 5-3 victory on Saturday night against Romford.
The results leave Swindon sixth in the EPL table, who have already played bottom of the league Romford three times.
Saturday's game
Swindon played host to old rivals Romford Raiders.
The last time these two teams met saw an exciting match with Swindon scoring the winning goal in overtime.
Swindon got off to a convincing 2 goal lead in the first period with goals from Raimond Danalics and captain Lee Richardson, Romford dug deep and it paid off when they found the back of the net with just 11 seconds remaining of the first period. Romford equalised early in the second period and nearly took the lead, but Swindon goalie Geoff Woolhouse pulled off an amazing save to keep the score line level. It was defencemen Jan Krajacek who put the home side ahead going in to the final period. Romford didnt waste time in gaining an early equaliser just 3 minutes into the third period. With both teams creating chances it was Swindon's Danalics who scored with only 5 minutes remaining.
Just a minute to go Romford pulled their net minder giving them the extra skater to gasp a late equaliser. However, it was Lee Richardson who seized the opportunity and put the puck into the empty net making the final score 5-3 to the home side.
